Peoria, IL – A shooting on West Johnson Street left one man dead and another critically injured Wednesday night. Police responded around 8:22 p.m. after a ShotSpotter alert detected six gunshots.
Officers arrived at the 900 block of West Johnson Street to find two men with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead on the scene. The second man was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to the Peoria Police Department, the identity of the deceased victim will be released after notification of family members. The Peoria County Coroner will also confirm the cause and manner of death.
Peoria Police’s Criminal Investigations Division and other specialized units are actively investigating. No suspects have been identified yet.
