Omaha, NE – Cooler temperatures and a chance of snow are on the way for eastern Nebraska and western Iowa this Thanksgiving week. Residents should enjoy sunny skies and mild conditions through Monday, as temperatures are expected to hover in the 50s this weekend. However, a cold front arriving midweek could bring the first snowflakes of the season.

According to the National Weather Service Omaha/Valley, light rain and snow showers are possible Wednesday and Thursday, particularly along the I-80 corridor. While snowfall amounts are expected to be minor, travel conditions could become slick, especially during the morning hours on Thursday. Temperatures will drop into the 20s overnight, with highs ranging from 30 to 45 degrees midweek.

Sunday will remain partly sunny with a high of 53 degrees and light winds. Monday brings clear skies but cooler air, with daytime highs reaching just 37 degrees. Winds shifting from the northwest will add to the chill, with lows plunging into the 20s Monday night.

By Tuesday night, clouds will build ahead of the approaching system. A slight chance of rain and snow develops Wednesday morning, becoming more likely by the evening hours. Thanksgiving Day will be brisk, with temperatures near freezing and lingering snow flurries possible.

Residents planning to travel midweek are encouraged to monitor weather updates and prepare for rapidly changing road conditions. For real-time updates, visit weather.gov/omaha.
