According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, a 30% chance of thunderstorms is expected late Friday afternoon into early evening, especially after 4 p.m. East northeast winds will shift north and may gust near 20 mph during the storms. The brief threat will clear out overnight, leading to a string of summer-like days starting Saturday.

Saturday brings sunshine and a high of 76°F, with light north winds turning calm by evening. Sunday, which is Mother’s Day, will be ideal for outdoor celebrations: sunny, dry, and a high near 78°F. Winds remain manageable at just 5 mph.

By Monday, heat begins building with temperatures climbing to 88°F. Tuesday brings the week’s hottest weather yet with a projected high of 94°F under continued sunny skies. Lubbock residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, especially early next week.
