Huntsville, Alabama – Dry air and low humidity are creating an elevated fire risk across north Alabama this afternoon, with conditions primed for rapid fire spread through sunset.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, relative humidity will drop significantly Tuesday afternoon while dry conditions persist across the Tennessee Valley. This combination increases the risk of brush fires, especially in areas like Madison, Decatur, and Scottsboro. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and any activity that could create sparks.

Temperatures will steadily climb through midweek, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s Tuesday and Wednesday before surging into the upper 70s to low 80s Thursday and Friday. Huntsville could reach as high as 84°F Thursday under mostly sunny skies.

Despite the warming trend, rain chances remain limited. A weak system may bring only a 10% to 20% chance of showers Friday afternoon into the evening, offering little relief from ongoing dry conditions.

Residents should remain cautious with outdoor activities, stay aware of fire risks, and monitor updates as conditions evolve. Dry weather is expected to dominate through the end of the week.
