Houston, TX – A heat advisory is in effect for Southeast Texas, including Houston, as temperatures and heat indices are expected to soar throughout the week. The National Weather Service in Houston-Galveston has warned that heat indices could exceed 108°F, posing significant risks for heat-related illnesses.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will remain in effect from noon Monday through 7 p.m. With high temperatures ranging from 92°F to 100°F and heat indices between 105°F and 112°F, residents are urged to take precautions. The most affected areas include those south of Interstate 10, where heat and humidity levels will be particularly intense.
Officials recommend staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, and wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. Residents without air conditioning should seek relief in cooler environments, and everyone is encouraged to check on vulnerable family members and pets. The extreme heat is expected to persist throughout the week, with only a slight chance of isolated storms to provide any relief.
