Severe weather is expected to sweep through Hill Country and areas across South-Central Texas today, bringing thunderstorms, hail, and potentially damaging winds. Travelers and residents should stay cautious, as localized heavy rain could lead to minor flooding, especially along low-lying roads and poor drainage areas. Outdoor plans may need adjustment due to the possibility of high-impact weather conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Austin/San Antonio office, a cold front moving across the region could trigger strong to marginally severe thunderstorms throughout Friday and into the night. These storms are forecast to bring main hazards of large hail and wind gusts capable of reaching damaging speeds. The risk of isolated tornadoes, although low, cannot be ruled out, particularly in Hill Country. Those near major routes, such as Interstate 10 and Highway 290, should prepare for possible delays due to reduced visibility and slick roads.
After today’s intense weather, the forecast for Saturday brings relief with sunny skies and calmer conditions. Highs are expected to reach around 76°F, with light winds creating a favorable day for outdoor activities. Sunday and Veterans Day on Monday are set to maintain clear, sunny conditions, with highs near 81°F, as cooler, stable weather settles across the region.
Looking ahead, minimal weather impacts are expected through Wednesday, giving residents a chance to enjoy a stretch of fair weather after today’s storms. However, those in flood-prone areas are urged to stay informed of any further updates as conditions develop throughout Friday. The NWS advises monitoring local alerts and avoiding flooded areas when driving.
