Fort Worth, TX – A complex of storms is forecast to move through western North Texas tonight, with the potential to bring strong winds and hail before weakening in the early morning hours.
According to the National Weather Service Fort Worth, the most significant threats include gusty winds, quarter-sized hail, and frequent lightning. The strongest storms are expected between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m., primarily affecting areas such as Graham, Cisco, and surrounding communities. A “Strong to Severe” warning has been issued for parts of the region during this window.
Storms are expected to arrive in the northwestern counties by 7 p.m., then progress southeastward into the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area and nearby regions through late evening and into early Friday morning.
Residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive warnings, such as weather radios, smartphone apps, or local TV alerts, especially if asleep when the storms arrive. The primary time of concern for the DFW area is between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.
The storm system is anticipated to weaken as it moves eastward but may still pose hazards to travel and outdoor activities. No widespread flooding is expected at this time, though isolated heavy downpours are possible.
Officials recommend staying indoors during the storms and avoiding travel if possible during the peak activity period. Power outages may also occur due to strong wind gusts or lightning strikes.
Further updates will be provided by the National Weather Service as conditions evolve.
