El Paso, Texas – Storm chances rise across far West Texas Tuesday afternoon as summer heat and gusty winds return to the El Paso region.

According to the National Weather Service, a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms will develop after noon Tuesday, June 10, with a high near 95°F. Winds will shift throughout the day, blowing east at 6 to 10 mph before turning west in the afternoon. Tuesday night brings continued thunderstorm potential, especially before midnight. Drivers along I-10 and US-54 should prepare for sudden downpours, gusty crosswinds, and low visibility.

Moisture will taper off by Wednesday, giving way to clear skies and rising heat. Daytime highs climb steadily throughout the week, peaking near 104°F by Saturday. West winds will vary between 5 to 10 mph but could bring occasional gusts, especially in open desert areas or along elevated roadways.

El Paso Electric recommends charging devices and reducing peak power use during the hottest afternoon hours. Outdoor workers and residents without air conditioning should hydrate frequently and avoid extended time in the sun.
