San Antonio, Texas – Strong to severe thunderstorms could impact parts of South-Central Texas this afternoon and evening, with the highest threat level over the Coastal Plains including Gonzales, Cuero, and Pleasanton.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, the region faces a Level 2 (slight) risk for severe weather through late Wednesday night. Isolated storms may bring large hail, damaging wind gusts, and pockets of locally heavy rain. The most intense activity is expected between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., especially in counties south and east of San Antonio.
Areas including La Grange, New Braunfels, and Eagle Pass fall under a marginal risk zone (Level 1), where a few strong storms could still produce hail or brief wind surges. Outdoor plans may need to be adjusted, and residents are urged to remain weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive alerts.
While the overall impact remains limited, brief power outages, tree limb damage, or slick roads are possible. Drivers should slow down on wet roads and avoid underpasses or low-lying crossings during heavy downpours.
Scattered storms may linger into Thursday afternoon, but clearer skies and warming temperatures are expected by Friday. Warnings may be updated, so continue monitoring local alerts through the evening.
