Springfield, Missouri – Rain will linger across southwestern Missouri through Friday, potentially disrupting outdoor activities in cities like Springfield, Joplin, and Branson with steady showers and localized downpours.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, the highest rain chances will occur today, with totals between 0.25 and 0.75 inches expected in most locations. Isolated pockets could see as much as 1 inch of rainfall, especially along the Missouri-Arkansas border and in parts of southeastern Kansas.

Cities including Nevada, Lebanon, and West Plains are all within the expected rain band. No flooding or severe weather is forecast, but wet roads and reduced visibility may slow down morning and evening commutes. Outdoor events or yard work may need to be rescheduled due to ongoing light-to-moderate showers.

This pattern marks a stretch of consistent rainfall, but nothing unusual for early May in the Ozarks region. Conditions are expected to improve gradually after Friday.

Rain chances remain in the forecast through the end of the workweek, with updates expected daily from the National Weather Service.
