Montgomery County, TX – Sheriff Wesley Doolittle has reaffirmed the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to maintaining public safety ahead of a planned protest set to take place this weekend.
According to a statement released on social media Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office acknowledged public awareness of the protest and emphasized that while operational plans would not be shared, deputies are prepared to address any public safety concerns “swiftly and professionally.”
The office voiced strong support for First Amendment rights, urging those planning to protest to do so lawfully and peacefully. “We are not here to silence voices,” the department wrote, “we are here to protect lives, property, and the peace of our county.”
Sheriff Doolittle reiterated that while peaceful protest is a constitutional right, any actions involving violence or threats to safety will not be tolerated. “Our deputies stand ready to protect this community with strength, resolve, and zero hesitation,” he stated.
He also extended thanks to Texas Governor Greg Abbott for his stance on law enforcement and public order, echoing the Governor’s position that those intending to “cause trouble” will be held accountable.
The Sheriff’s Office encouraged the public to stay informed through its website and official social media channels as the weekend approaches.
