Worcester County, MA – A sobriety checkpoint will be in place in Worcester County this weekend as part of ongoing efforts by Massachusetts State Police to reduce impaired driving across the Commonwealth.

According to a news release from the Massachusetts State Police Office of Media Relations, the checkpoint will be active from Saturday, June 14, into the early hours of Sunday, June 15, 2025. It is funded by a grant through the Office of Grants and Research of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.

The checkpoint is intended to raise public awareness about the dangers of impaired driving and help detect motorists operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Authorities noted that vehicles will not be selected arbitrarily. The checkpoint will operate during varied hours and is designed to minimize inconvenience while maintaining safety and transparency.

Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader campaign to make roads safer by targeting high-risk behaviors. Advance notice, such as this advisory, is part of the department’s approach to reduce fear and anxiety among motorists.

Drivers in Worcester County should expect potential delays and are advised to plan accordingly.
