Dallas, Texas – Severe thunderstorms packing wind gusts over 80 mph are expected to sweep through North and Central Texas tonight, threatening cities from Graham to Palestine and bringing a heightened risk of tornadoes and large hail.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the most dangerous window for damaging storms is between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., with activity moving from northwest to southeast. Areas in and around DFW, Sherman, Canton, and Palestine face the highest wind threats, and isolated tornadoes are also possible.
Residents in Waco, Graham, and Paris should prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Wind damage, flying debris, and downed power lines could lead to localized outages and hazardous travel, especially overnight. The NWS advises Texans to avoid non-essential travel, secure outdoor objects, and charge devices in advance of potential outages.
This system mirrors similar June storm outbreaks seen in previous years and highlights the need for readiness during late spring’s volatile weather window. While rain could relieve drought concerns, the storm’s severe wind core is the immediate danger.
Storm threats may linger through 3 a.m. in southeastern counties. Additional watches or warnings may be issued as the situation evolves.
