Nashville, Tenn. – Damaging winds could sweep across Middle Tennessee on Monday, with the potential for large hail and heavy downpours disrupting daily life from Nashville to Knoxville.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a Level 2 “Slight Risk” of severe weather has been issued for much of central and eastern Tennessee on June 9. Wind gusts may exceed 60 mph, especially in areas like Murfreesboro, Cookeville, and Columbia. Storms are expected to roll through from late morning into the evening hours, with localized flooding possible during intense downpours.
Communities along I-40, including Lebanon and Jackson, should prepare for sudden power outages and tree damage. Clarksville, on the northern edge of the risk zone, could see more marginal impacts, while cities further southeast—like Chattanooga and Cleveland—face more widespread storm activity.
The main advice from emergency officials: have multiple ways to receive warnings and avoid travel during peak storm hours. Secure loose outdoor items, and stay indoors during high winds.
Storm risks could extend into Monday night. Additional updates are expected as new data arrives from NWS.
