Lubbock, TX — Mild conditions are expected to continue across the Texas Panhandle on Thursday, with isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible and temperatures climbing into the 70s and low 80s.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, southerly winds will increase to 15–20 mph by Thursday afternoon, contributing to partly to mostly cloudy skies. Areas such as Aspermont, Turkey, Childress, and Memphis could see highs near 82°F, while Lubbock, Plainview, and Floydada will hover around 77°F. Scattered storms are most likely in southeastern counties, including a 40% chance near Aspermont and 30% near Post.

The highest storm risks are forecast between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday, particularly in the southern and southeastern parts of the region. While severe weather is not expected, isolated lightning and brief downpours may impact travel and outdoor plans.

Residents are advised to monitor local alerts and avoid outdoor activities during thunderstorm periods. Drivers should use caution in areas experiencing reduced visibility from rain.
