Texas Man Arrested After 500 Pounds of Marijuana Found on Arkansas Interstate 40

London, Ark. – Arkansas State Police arrested a Texas man after seizing more than 500 pounds of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms.

Troopers stopped a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van on Interstate 40 near Pope County for a traffic violation on Monday. During the stop, they reportedly discovered multiple duffle bags filled with marijuana and mushrooms. Officers allegedly found 514 one-pound packages of marijuana and roughly two pounds of psilocybin mushrooms inside the van.

According to state police, the driver, 41-year-old Ismar Zubovic of Houston, was taken into custody. He faces alleged felony charges for trafficking a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Zubovic informed investigators that he was traveling from California to New Jersey. He is being held at the Pope County Detention Center. Police believe the drugs were being transported for distribution.

Arkansas State Police are continuing to investigate the case and are collaborating with federal agencies to track the source and destination of the illegal drugs.
