Corpus Christi, Texas – South Texas is bracing for a dangerous stretch of summer heat as highs soar into the triple digits through at least Tuesday, with major heat-related health risks expected across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, areas like Laredo, Cotulla, and Freer are already hitting 100°F or more today, with highs forecast to climb as high as 106°F from Sunday through Monday. Inland communities such as Alice and Tilden will stay in the upper 90s to low 100s, while coastal areas like Rockport and Port Lavaca will see slightly cooler—but still sweltering—highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

With no significant rainfall expected until mid-next week, the persistent heat combined with full sun and humidity will elevate the risk for heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors, especially the elderly. UV index levels remain in the “very high” category, increasing the chance of sunburn within minutes.

This marks one of the season’s first prolonged heat waves, and temperatures will remain above average until at least Tuesday, when a 30–50% chance of rain returns. Additional heat advisories may be issued in coming days.
