Shreveport, LA – Freezing rain is expected to create hazardous travel conditions across portions of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana through Wednesday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. CST, with additional ice accumulation forming a light glaze on roads and bridges.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, affected areas include Franklin and Titus counties in Texas, Sevier and Howard counties in Arkansas, and McCurtain County in Oklahoma. Cities such as Mount Pleasant, Texarkana, Shreveport, and El Dorado may experience icy conditions that could make the Wednesday morning commute dangerous.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, as untreated roads may become slick. The ice accumulation could also lead to minor power outages in some locations. Residents can check real-time road conditions by calling 511 in their respective states.
Authorities recommend allowing extra travel time, avoiding sudden braking, and preparing for possible disruptions. The freezing rain is expected to subside by mid-morning as temperatures rise, reducing the risk of further ice formation. However, lingering slick spots may persist through the early afternoon.
