Nashville, TN – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of Tennessee, including major cities like Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville, valid until 8 PM CDT today. The National Weather Service in Jackson reported that the watch covers extensive areas in both Tennessee and Kentucky.
According to the US National Weather Service, the region can expect isolated hail up to quarter size, scattered wind gusts reaching 70 MPH, and frequent lightning. The affected areas are home to over 5 million people, 1,317 schools, and 127 hospitals, highlighting the importance of vigilance and preparedness.
The weather service urges residents to stay indoors and secure outdoor objects that could become hazardous in high winds.
