Nashville, TN – A man was fatally injured Friday after being pinned by a food truck in the parking lot of 2819 Lebanon Pike.

Favian Ubense Cruz-Vargas, 48, was helping guide the truck when it backed into him. Cruz-Vargas was caught between the vehicle and a building. Emergency personnel transported him to Skyline Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

According to Nashville police, the driver, Omar Martinez-Gonzalez, 42, was operating the truck when the incident occurred. Authorities believe that operator inexperience played a role in the accident. Martinez-Gonzalez was arrested and charged under the Ricky Otts Act for lacking a valid driver’s license and insurance.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
