Nashville, TN – Middle Tennessee residents should prepare for heavy rain and potential thunderstorms this weekend, impacting post-holiday travel. Weather conditions could bring localized flooding and hazardous driving along I-40 and I-65.

According to the National Weather Service, two rounds of rain are expected. The first will arrive Friday morning and the second on Saturday. On Saturday evening, there’s a low chance of severe storms south of I-40 and west of I-65. Rainfall totals may reach 1–3 inches across the region.

Saturday’s storms could bring strong winds and localized heavy rainfall. Drivers should avoid flooded areas and monitor updated weather reports. Gusts up to 30 mph may impact high-profile vehicles, particularly on exposed stretches of I-40.

Looking ahead, Sunday offers a brief reprieve with partly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s. However, rain chances return Monday evening, with scattered showers persisting into New Year’s Day. Highs will dip into the mid-40s by midweek.

Travelers and residents are advised to check local forecasts and road conditions before heading out. Ensure vehicles are equipped for wet roads and pack emergency supplies, especially for longer drives.
