Nashville, TN – A 26-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he allegedly fatally stabbed a male acquaintance inside a Nashville apartment on Wednesday.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Homicide Unit detectives issued an arrest warrant Thursday for Tristen Williams in connection with the stabbing at the Fatherland Flats apartment complex located at 400 Fatherland Street. The victim, who reportedly had been staying at Williams’ residence, has been tentatively identified as a 54-year-old man. Police say fingerprint analysis will confirm his identity.
Williams, currently being treated for an arm laceration at a local hospital, will be taken into custody upon release. He faces charges of criminal homicide, evidence tampering and two counts of domestic assault related to a separate incident involving a girlfriend.
Police were first alerted to the case around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, when a relative of Williams, visiting from Montgomery County, noticed his arm injury and called 911. Responding officers found the deceased inside the apartment with apparent stab wounds to the back and throat.
Authorities said evidence at the scene suggested an attempt had been made to clean blood from the apartment. Officers reported a strong odor of bleach and found a bloodied bleach bottle in the kitchen. Additional blood was discovered in a back bedroom, although the body had been relocated to a different room. A trail of blood reportedly extended from the apartment to a shared laundry facility, where detectives recovered a bloodied kitchen knife and bedding.
Williams allegedly told family and other witnesses that the victim had attacked him. Police have not yet formally interviewed Williams due to his hospitalization.
