JONESBOROUGH, TN – A Johnson City man was taken into custody Monday morning following an alleged incident at a Washington County convenience store that involved reckless behavior, property damage, and multiple charges.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:30 a.m. Monday to the 2700 block of Highway 11-E after reports of a suspicious vehicle parked at a convenience store. Authorities said all doors of the vehicle were open, and a man, later identified as 37-year-old Garrett Eamonn O’Sullivan, was allegedly walking around the lot holding a sign belonging to the business.

Deputies reportedly made contact with O’Sullivan and observed signs of impairment. He allegedly told deputies there was “a carrot” on top of one of the gas pumps. Upon further investigation, law enforcement said they found a glass pipe and another pipe shaped like a carrot, items commonly associated with illegal drug use. Officials also reported that a gas pump had been damaged, and O’Sullivan allegedly admitted to causing the damage.

Store surveillance video allegedly showed O’Sullivan driving recklessly through the parking lot and around gas pumps at a high rate of speed. When deputies searched the vehicle, they reportedly discovered a firearm and approximately 82 rounds of ammunition.

O’Sullivan was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of a weapon, vandalism, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $15,000 bond.

Authorities said O’Sullivan is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
