Tennessee drivers are navigating a thick blanket of fog across Memphis this morning, where visibility has dropped to one-quarter mile in spots. Headlights glow along I-40 and I-55, and the Hernando DeSoto Bridge fades into gray haze. If you are heading out now, slow down and increase following distance.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. for West Tennessee, including Shelby County, along with parts of East Arkansas and North Mississippi. Visibility may fall to a quarter mile or less at times. Calm winds and saturated air are allowing fog to linger past sunrise.

Memphis International Airport reports 51 degrees with calm winds and high humidity. Widespread fog developed before dawn and may persist through mid-morning before sunshine takes over. Conditions improve quickly by late morning as temperatures rise toward 72 degrees.

Expect clear skies tonight with lows near 47. Saturday brings bright sunshine and a high near 74, signaling a strong spring tease as March approaches. Sunday turns mostly cloudy with highs near 66, and a 40 percent chance of showers develops Sunday night into Monday.

Plan extra time for travel this morning. Reduced visibility can change quickly near rivers and low-lying roads.
