Sumter County, SC – A 32-year-old Manning man has been arrested and charged with murder following a deadly shooting in Sumter County over the weekend, authorities confirmed.

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday on Collins Street, where deputies responded to reports of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they located 36-year-old Bryan Dargan, of Sumter, and attempted life-saving measures. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the suspect, identified as Yul Iziah David, allegedly fled the area after the shooting. With assistance from the Sumter Police Department, deputies identified a vehicle connected to the case and located David at a residence on Spaulding Avenue. A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was also recovered.

David was taken into custody without incident and later charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. According to officials, David and Dargan were acquaintances who had a disagreement prior to the shooting. Authorities allege that David drew a weapon and shot Dargan multiple times.

David is currently being held at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, where his bond has been denied.

Sheriff Anthony Dennis described the incident as a “senseless murder that should have never happened,” adding that investigators do not believe the case poses an ongoing threat to the community.

Officials credited community cooperation for helping deputies quickly locate the suspect and bring the case to a swift resolution.
