Fort Worth, TX – Severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, and potential tornadoes are expected to hit North and Central Texas late Sunday night into Monday morning, creating significant hazards for residents. Weather experts are urging preparedness as the storm system develops over the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a line of storms will move across the area starting late Sunday night, bringing the highest threat of severe weather between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. Monday. Ahead of the main storm line, isolated storm cells could develop Sunday evening, with damaging winds as the primary concern and tornadoes a possibility. Areas along the I-35 corridor and surrounding communities should remain alert.

Residents are encouraged to enable emergency alerts on mobile devices, especially overnight, when warnings may be harder to hear. Check road conditions and avoid travel during peak storm hours if possible.

Following the storm system, a sharp cold front will bring significantly cooler temperatures to the region. By midweek, overnight lows are expected to drop into the 30s and 40s, with some areas near U.S. 281 facing a 20-40% chance of freezing conditions Thursday morning. Daytime highs will remain in the 50s through Wednesday and Thursday, signaling a noticeable shift from recent mild weather.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items, monitor updates, and prepare for the week’s changing conditions.
