Freeport, IL – Three men were hospitalized Tuesday night after gunfire erupted at a Freeport home in the 100 block of E. Winslow Street, according to the Freeport Police Department.
Officers responded around 11:02 p.m. on October 14 to a “Sound Thinking” alert and found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics with the Freeport Fire Department transported the men to FHN Hospital for treatment.
According to police, a 39-year-old man sustained a minor graze wound to his abdomen and was treated and released. A 49-year-old man remained at FHN Hospital with a leg wound, while a 50-year-old man—also struck in the leg—was transferred to a Rockford-area hospital for further care.
Investigators said the victims were inside the residence when two suspects allegedly began firing shots at the house. The suspects fled the area before officers arrived.
Police said the shooting does not appear to be a random act and remains under active investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Freeport Police Department at 815-235-8222 or Stateline Area Crime Stoppers at 866-TIPSNOW. Tips can also be submitted via Tip411.
