State College, Pennsylvania – Temperatures will drop below freezing overnight, bringing a widespread cold snap that could damage plants, impact plumbing, and create slick spots during the Monday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, a Freeze Warning is in effect from midnight through 9 a.m. Monday across central Pennsylvania, including Centre, Blair, Cambria, Somerset, Clearfield, and Lycoming counties. Forecasters say temperatures will fall as low as 25 degrees in northern المناطق, with most areas ranging between 25 and 31 degrees by daybreak.
Cities including State College, Altoona, Johnstown, Williamsport, and DuBois will see prolonged freezing conditions through early Monday morning. Major roadways such as I-99, US-22, and I-80 may develop patchy frost on bridges and overpasses, especially before 8 a.m., increasing the risk of slick travel.
The freeze poses a significant threat to early-season crops, flowering trees, and backyard gardens. Residents should cover sensitive plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, and protect outdoor plumbing by draining hoses and insulating exposed pipes.
Looking ahead, a Freeze Watch remains in effect for late Monday night into Tuesday morning, when temperatures could drop as low as 21 to 24 degrees. Additional alerts are likely as another round of cold air moves in.
