St. Louis, Missouri – Residents across eastern Missouri face two waves of potentially severe storms, with the first arriving late tonight and another round expected by Wednesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, thunderstorms developing over Kansas and Oklahoma will move into Missouri late tonight into the overnight hours. Some storms could produce wind gusts exceeding 60 mph and hail up to golf ball size, especially along and south of the Interstate 70 corridor.

The St. Louis metro area, including major routes like I-44 and I-55, may see sudden downpours and dangerous lightning overnight, reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions. While the initial threat remains scattered, stronger cells could still cause localized damage.

A second round is expected Wednesday afternoon into the evening as storms redevelop over eastern Kansas and western Missouri along a weak cold front. These storms will again carry the risk of large hail and damaging winds as they move east into the St. Louis region.

Residents should keep phones charged, enable weather alerts, and be ready to take shelter if warnings are issued. Additional advisories are likely as both rounds of storms approach and evolve.
