St. Charles, IL – The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is in mourning following the loss of K9 Arko, the ten-year-old German Shepherd renowned for his service in the K9 unit. During his illustrious career, K9 Arko heroically led over 300 protective explosive detonation sweeps, playing an essential role in maintaining public safety and assisting in critical law enforcement operations.

According to Sheriff Ron Hain, K9 Arko’s dedication to his duties since joining the force in 2016 made him an invaluable asset in detecting and preventing potential threats. His work included tracking, evidence recovery, and directly linking suspects to crimes, which significantly contributed to the safety and security of Kane County. Alongside his handler, Lt.
