Springfield, OH – Two Dead Following Fatal ATV Crash on Ballentine Pike

Two young adults died after a fatal ATV crash in Springfield early Friday morning. The accident occurred at about 12:49 a.m. on Ballentine Pike, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Investigators revealed that 21-year-old Landon E. Overholser was driving an ATV northbound when he sideswiped another ATV. Overholser lost control of his vehicle, drove off the road, struck a fence, and overturned. His passenger, 21-year-old Kylie E. Coffey, suffered critical injuries. First responders treated her at the scene before transporting her to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where she died.

Overholser was flown to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died from his injuries early Saturday morning. Authorities closed Ballentine Pike for about four hours during their investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash. Both ATVs were severely damaged. Authorities have not yet determined if alcohol or speed played a role in the collision. The community is mourning the tragic loss of two young lives.
