Springfield Man Faces 38 Charges After Vehicle Thefts in Columbia and Monroe County

Monroe County, IL – A joint investigation between Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Columbia Police Department led to the arrest of a Springfield teen allegedly responsible for multiple vehicle burglaries. Tony S. Terry, 18, has been charged with 38 counts related to these incidents.

According to reports on August 29, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department received reports of vehicle burglaries near Eagle Lake Drive in Columbia. At the same time, Columbia Police investigated similar reports, prompting both departments to collaborate. According to authorities, detectives identified Terry as the primary suspect, leading to a swift arrest on Monday, September 30. Terry was charged with 13 alleged counts of burglary related to Monroe County, one count of possession of a stolen vehicle, and 24 alleged counts tied to Columbia.

Terry remains in custody in Springfield, awaiting extradition to Monroe County.
