San Bernardino, CA – A powerful winter storm is bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds to the San Bernardino and Riverside County mountains, creating hazardous travel conditions through Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall totals range from 1 to 3 inches at elevations of 4,000-5,000 feet, increasing to 6-12 inches at 5,500-6,500 feet, and up to 24 inches at higher elevations. Wind gusts could reach 65 mph, especially on desert-facing slopes.

Travel is expected to be difficult or impossible, particularly during Thursday’s morning and evening commutes. Road closures, fallen trees, and whiteout conditions are possible.
