Pueblo, CO – A winter storm warning is in effect for the Eastern San Juan Mountains, bringing heavy snowfall and dangerous winds through Friday afternoon.
The National Weather Service reports that snowfall could reach 6 to 14 inches, with the heaviest accumulations on west and southwest-facing slopes. Wind gusts of up to 60 mph may cause widespread blowing snow, reducing visibility and making travel treacherous.
Wolf Creek Pass and Cumbres Pass will be among the hardest-hit areas. Drivers are urged to use caution and prepare for icy roads and possible closures.
If travel is unavoidable, authorities recommend carrying extra food, water, and emergency supplies. Check road conditions by calling 511 or visiting Colorado DOT’s website for updates.
