Los Angeles, CA – Southern California is bracing for a weekend of extreme heat, with temperatures soaring to 108 degrees in some areas. The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued an excessive heat advisory for the region, urging residents to take precautions.

According to the National Weather Service, hot and dry conditions will persist through Sunday, with a slight chance of monsoonal moisture bringing scattered thunderstorms to the area. Temperatures are expected to range from 96-108 degrees in the mountains and interior valleys, while coastal areas will see highs of 85-100 degrees. Humidity levels are expected to be low, exacerbating the heat.

Residents are advised to stay indoors, stay hydrated, and seek shelter if they hear thunder. The advisory also highlights the increased risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations. The public is reminded never to leave humans or animals in parked cars and to be aware of the elevated risk of large grass fires.
