Detroit, MI – Residents are in for another hot day as the heat wave continues in southeastern Michigan, with heat indices forecast to reach upwards of 100°F Thursday into Friday. The region remains under Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories.

According to the National Weather Service, the prolonged heat and limited nighttime cooling pose significant risks, especially for vulnerable urban populations. Urban areas like Detroit and Flint are particularly affected, with warnings in place to address the higher risk of heat-related illnesses.

Officials advise reducing outdoor activities, drinking plenty of water, and wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing to mitigate the heat’s effects. Cooling centers are available for those without access to air conditioning, with information on locations provided by local authorities. The warnings are expected to remain in effect until 8 PM Friday for most of southeastern Michigan, highlighting the importance of remaining vigilant during this period of extreme heat.
