Nashville, TN – A developing tropical disturbance is forecasted to bring significant rainfall and flash flooding risks to the Southeast by Thursday, September 26. The National Weather Service has placed parts of Florida, Alabama, and Georgia under a Moderate Risk for excessive rainfall as the tropical system strengthens.

According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, heavy rainfall is likely to impact the region between Thursday and Friday. Localized flooding could result from intense downpours, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas. Officials urge residents in high-risk zones to prepare for possible flash flooding by clearing drains and securing outdoor items.

The disturbance, named Tropical Cyclone Nine, may lead to hazardous road conditions and rapid rises in water levels. Meteorologists recommend monitoring local weather alerts and advisories closely. Areas particularly vulnerable to flooding should have evacuation plans in place.

The Weather Prediction Center continues to update the rainfall outlook and flash flood potential. Residents can expect more detailed forecasts as the system develops closer to midweek.
