St. Louis, MO – Southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois will see another round of rain and isolated thunderstorms starting late Sunday night into Monday morning. Residents should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility during the Monday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest rain is expected south of I-44 in Missouri and east of I-55 in Illinois. Most areas will see light rain amounts, but parts of southeast Missouri could receive up to one inch. Thunderstorms may develop overnight and continue into early Monday.

While rainfall totals are lower compared to the previous round, drivers should remain cautious on slick roadways and watch for ponding water, particularly in low-lying areas. Monday’s temperatures will rise to near 56 degrees before gradually clearing later in the day.

Looking ahead, a brief period of dry and sunny weather is expected on Tuesday, with a high near 52 degrees. However, rain returns Tuesday night, with a 70% chance of showers across the region. By Wednesday, cooler air will arrive, dropping temperatures to the mid-40s during the day and as low as 24 degrees overnight.

The week will finish out with sunny skies and seasonable temperatures. Thursday’s high will reach 39 degrees, with overnight lows near 29 degrees. Residents can expect a quiet and sunny Friday with a high around 40 degrees.

Motorists and outdoor enthusiasts should stay alert to changing conditions, particularly tonight and during the midweek rain. Be sure to monitor local forecasts for updates and plan ahead for any potential weather impacts.
