Pueblo, CO – Warm, dry weather combined with gusty winds will heighten fire risks across Southeast Colorado this weekend. The US National Weather Service warns that Thursday’s fire danger will intensify along the southern I-25 corridor, including the plains and mountain valleys.

According to the NWS, high temperatures will reach between 83-95°F across the plains on Thursday, with continued heat and no rain expected through Saturday. The fire danger will remain critical, with wind speeds increasing fire spread potential. Residents should avoid outdoor burning and be vigilant for any signs of smoke or flames. Local authorities advise securing any flammable materials and ensuring that all fires are fully extinguished.

In the mountain valleys, temperatures will range from 74-79°F, also under sunny skies with no expected precipitation. Residents are encouraged to follow fire safety guidelines and prepare for dry conditions lasting into the weekend.

Looking ahead to next week, temperatures are expected to remain warm and dry, with highs reaching the mid-80s.
