Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota is set to experience a scorching heat wave and thunderstorms throughout the weekend, with temperatures soaring to the upper 90s and heat index values reaching above 100 degrees. The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls reports that after initial showers and thunderstorms on Saturday morning, the weather will become hot and muggy, posing potential heat-related risks.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s temperatures will range from 89 to 97 degrees, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected in the morning. A heat advisory is in effect for the afternoon due to the high temperatures. On Sunday, the region will continue to experience sweltering conditions with a high of 93 degrees, accompanied by possible morning showers.

As the week progresses, Monday will bring slightly cooler temperatures, ranging from 86 to 93 degrees, with additional showers possible and a breezy atmosphere. Tuesday marks a notable shift in weather patterns, with temperatures cooling down to 76 to 82 degrees and partly cloudy skies.

By midweek, South Dakota residents can expect further relief from the heat. Wednesday’s forecast predicts temperatures between 74 and 81 degrees, providing a much-needed break from the intense heat earlier in the week.
