Shreveport, LA – Residents in South Central Arkansas and North Central Louisiana are facing extreme heat conditions today as a heat advisory remains in effect until 8 PM. With temperatures soaring into the upper 90s to lower 100s, heat index values are expected to climb between 105 and 109 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the advisory affects the entire Four State Area, including El Dorado, Hope, and Texarkana in Arkansas, as well as Monroe, Jonesboro, and Natchitoches in Louisiana. The advisory warns of potentially dangerous levels of heat, urging residents to take precautions.

The forecast indicates that temperatures will peak at 100 degrees in Shreveport and Natchitoches, with nearby cities like Longview and Homer reaching the upper 90s. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, primarily in South Central Arkansas and Northeast and North Central Louisiana. However, most of the region is expected to remain dry.

Looking ahead, the heat wave is set to continue, with daytime highs reaching 99 degrees through the weekend. Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned environments, avoid direct sun exposure, and check on pets and vulnerable individuals.
