Columbia, SC – A humid haze hangs low over the Palmetto State this morning as clouds drift through a mild, pre-dawn sky. Roads are damp, air feels warm, and a few early raindrops cling to windshields — a soft start to what will quickly turn into a sunny, late-fall weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, light showers may linger through early morning before skies clear, bringing highs near 80°F. Sunday and Monday stay bright, calm, and comfortably warm, with daytime temperatures in the low 70s — ideal for early Thanksgiving travel, yard cleanup, or putting up Christmas lights before cooler weather returns.

By Tuesday, however, a weak front edges into central South Carolina, bringing scattered rain and a noticeable temperature shift. Travelers heading along I-26 or I-20 toward Augusta or Charleston could encounter patchy wet roads and slower travel conditions later in the day.

Nationally, attention turns toward a major cold front expected to surge eastward from the central U.S. by Thanksgiving Day. The front could bring much colder air — and even early winter weather — to parts of the Midwest and East Coast between November 25 and December 3. While South Carolina will mainly see rain, cooler air may filter in late week, hinting at a seasonal pattern shift.

Five-Day Outlook (Columbia, SC):

  • Today: Chance of showers early, then sunny, high 80°F.
  • Sunday: Sunny, high 74°F.
  • Monday: Sunny, high 68°F.
  • Tuesday: Chance of rain, high 74°F.
  • Wednesday: Chance of rain, high 77°F.
