Fort Wayne, IN – Temperatures are set to drop into the upper 20s and low 30s over the next several nights, creating a growing risk for frost and freeze damage across northern Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, rain and isolated thunder will move west to east through the region this morning, with conditions gradually drying out later today. Cooler air settles in behind the system, setting up multiple nights of frost and potential freezing conditions from late Sunday night through Tuesday morning.

Cities including Fort Wayne, South Bend, Elkhart, and Warsaw could see overnight lows as cold as 26 to 34 degrees, especially in rural and low-lying areas. Patchy frost may begin as early as Sunday morning, with a more widespread freeze likely Monday morning.

Drivers should remain cautious of damp roads early today, particularly along I-69 and U.S. 30, where visibility could briefly drop in heavier showers.

Residents are urged to cover or bring in sensitive plants and take precautions to protect outdoor plumbing. Pets should also be kept warm during the colder nights ahead.

Warmer temperatures return by midweek, but frost advisories or freeze warnings may be issued as early as Sunday night.
