Somersworth, NH: High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash, Rochester Man Arrested

Somersworth, NH – A high-speed police chase in Somersworth ended in a crash and arrest Thursday night after a driver attempted to evade police.

Michael P. Ruest, 42, of Rochester, was allegedly driving over 100 mph on Route 108 when Trooper Jacob Benjamin initiated the pursuit around 8:20 p.m. According to New Hampshire State Police, Ruest reportedly refused to stop, continuing to drive recklessly. He reportedly struck another vehicle while passing on the shoulder, causing minor damage but no injuries.

The chase ended when Ruest lost control of his Dodge Challenger and crashed into a fence near Willard Road. Troopers arrested Ruest at the scene, along with his unharmed female passenger.

Ruest faces charges including reckless conduct, drug transportation, and fleeing police. Police also revealed he was wanted by the Lee Police Department for drug possession. Authorities took Ruest to Strafford County Jail, where he remains without bail.
