Fire Rips Through Lockport Home, Investigators Suspect Accidental Cause

Lockport, IL – A fire broke out Thursday evening, severely damaging a home in the 200 block of Franklin St. in Lockport. Firefighters from the Lockport Township Fire Protection District responded to the scene at approximately 5:50 p.m.

According to Deputy Chief Frank Blaskey, crews found an active fire on the first floor of the single-family residence. Firefighters used multiple hose lines to control the blaze. One occupant was home at the time but was unharmed. Utilities to the house were cut off as a precaution, and the residence was declared uninhabitable due to extensive damage.

While the cause appears to be accidental, Lockport Fire Investigators continue to examine the scene. No injuries were reported.
