Milwaukee, WI – A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for southern Wisconsin starting early Thursday, bringing widespread snow and potential travel disruptions. Residents along the I-94 corridor, including Madison, Milwaukee, and areas north into Sheboygan, should prepare for challenging conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin early Thursday morning and continue through midday Friday. Most areas will see 3-6 inches of snow, but lake-enhanced snowfall near Sheboygan and Ozaukee Counties could result in 5-9 inches. Snowfall rates will be light to moderate, yet accumulation on roadways and reduced visibility may cause hazardous travel, especially during the Thursday morning and evening commutes.
Wind will remain relatively calm, but minor blowing and drifting snow could further complicate driving conditions. Motorists are urged to allow extra time for travel, keep emergency kits in vehicles, and check road conditions regularly.
Looking ahead, temperatures will remain cold throughout the weekend, with highs in the low 30s and additional flurries possible Saturday. Sunshine is expected to return by Sunday, offering some relief from the active weather.
This storm marks the start of an unsettled pattern for southern Wisconsin. Travelers and commuters should stay alert for additional advisories and updates throughout the week.
