Jackson, KY – A cold front moving into Kentucky tonight will usher in cooler temperatures, bringing light snow and rain to parts of the region by Friday. Residents should prepare for possible travel delays and winter weather impacts heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, temperatures will dip into the 30s tonight with light rain and drizzle clearing by morning. Thursday will bring cooler, dry conditions, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 40s. However, a quick-moving clipper system will arrive Friday, increasing the chance of rain and snow across eastern Kentucky.

Forecasters expect the system to develop mid-morning Friday, starting as rain before transitioning to snow in the afternoon. High temperatures will hover in the mid-30s, with overnight lows dropping into the 20s. Light snow accumulation of less than half an inch is possible, though roads, especially bridges and overpasses, could become slick. Motorists should exercise caution during the Friday evening commute.

Looking ahead, Saturday will see mostly sunny skies but colder conditions, with highs reaching only the mid-30s. By Sunday, clear and sunny weather will return, with temperatures stabilizing near 37 degrees during the day and dropping to around 20 degrees overnight.

Residents should monitor updated forecasts as conditions could change quickly. Prepare for slippery travel Friday and ensure vehicles are winter-ready.
