New York, NY – Frigid temperatures and biting winds will grip New York City Thursday, with snow showers possible before a much-needed warm-up arrives this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, a 30% chance of snow showers is expected Thursday afternoon, with highs reaching only 29°F. Wind chills will make it feel even colder, dropping into the teens. Overnight, gusty northwest winds up to 20 mph will keep temperatures near 23°F, with blustery conditions lingering into Friday.

Friday will be mostly sunny but brisk, with highs around 34°F and continued strong winds making it feel much colder. However, relief is on the horizon as temperatures begin a steady climb over the weekend. Saturday will see sunny skies and a high near 40°F, while Sunday brings mild conditions with highs reaching 43°F.

By Monday, a brief taste of spring arrives, with mostly sunny skies and highs around 45°F. Tuesday could bring a 30% chance of rain, with temperatures near 49°F.

Residents should bundle up through Friday and prepare for icy patches on roads and sidewalks before enjoying a welcome break from the winter chill this weekend.
