Philadelphia, PA – A winter chill continues across the region Thursday as Philadelphia prepares for a slight chance of snow showers and unusually low tides along the Delaware River.

According to the National Weather Service, strong northwest winds are driving water levels to nearly 2.5 feet below the Mean Lower Low Water mark, creating potential hazards for navigation. Mariners should use extra caution through early Thursday, as low water levels may cause boats to run aground. Meanwhile, temperatures will struggle to climb, with a high near 29°F and a northwestern breeze up to 10 mph.

Overnight into Friday, skies will clear with a low near 22°F and gusts reaching 25 mph. A gradual warming trend begins Friday, with sunny conditions and a high of 37°F. The weekend will offer a brief taste of spring, as temperatures rise into the mid-40s under mostly sunny skies.

Residents should prepare for icy conditions and possible snow accumulation of less than half an inch Thursday. Warmer temperatures this weekend provide a reprieve from the Arctic air, but another system could bring unsettled weather next week.
