Raleigh, NC – A winter storm is bringing snow, sleet, and icy conditions to central North Carolina, making roads hazardous through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday for the northern Piedmont region, including Raleigh, Durham, and Greensboro. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected, with some areas seeing up to 3 inches. Ice accumulations could create slick roads, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Drivers should expect delays and plan for dangerous travel conditions through Wednesday night. Road conditions could worsen during the evening commute as precipitation increases. Officials urge caution and recommend checking road conditions by dialing 511 before heading out.

After the winter storm, temperatures will remain cold Thursday, with highs in the mid-30s. However, a warming trend is expected this weekend, with highs climbing into the 50s by Sunday and reaching the upper 50s to near 60 on Monday.
